New Chairman to Drive Devon’s Top Attractions Forward!

Chris Murray, owner of Pennywell Farm, near Buckfastleigh has once again taken on the role of Chairman for the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions (DATA) after a gap of more than 12 years.

His election in November sees him return to a role that he is passionate about and he is determined to hit the ground running, anticipating a busy year for Devon attractions.

“When attractions thrive, Devon thrives and when Devon thrives, attractions thrive. As an organisation, we have to continually drive standards. We have world class attractions in Devon and it’s an honour to once again be trusted to head up such a winning team.”

Chris is very keen to promote the quality standards that member attractions must meet, with annual inspections, mystery shoppers and a long list of criteria to make sure that the standard is maintained.

Chris explains, “We want visitors to Devon and our local visitors to know that when they see the DATA quality assurance stamp, it can actually be trusted. The inspections are rigorous and even attractions that fly through inspections will be given honest feedback on how to improve”.

His role, as well as being the DATA spokesperson is to engage with all the members on policies, planning and new initiatives.

DATA’s Marketing Manager Anne Blackham says, “I am delighted to have Chris Murray at the helm, with his experience, passion and determination within the industry, we look forward to seeing the association being driven forward. I am really looking forward to working closely with Chris on promoting all that the Devon attractions have to offer and making sure all our visitors experience the quality they deserve”.

The association is now in its 32th year and has a total of 42 members, comprising of members and some associate members.  DATA is keen to work in collaboration with all sectors of tourism across Devon and the South West helping to promote Devon as a winning destination.

Further information about the Association can be found on their website www.devontopattractions.com.
