Devon Set For Hauntingly Good Half Term!

How quickly does October Half Term creep up on us all? With the spooky season almost here, there will be plenty to keep everyone entertained at Devon’s Top Attractions who have been busy organising the best ever selection of scary, fun and spooky surprises.

There will be so much going on in Devon this half term, the county will be transformed by all the ghoulish activities on offer.  There will be lots of low key Halloween hoots and pumpkin fun for the preschoolers and loads of bone-rattling, frightful fun for the older ones.  There will even be some terrifying adult only events this year.

Head to Woodlands Family Theme Park this half term and see it mysteriously change into Woodlands family SCREAM park. Featuring a whole week of spooky activities and trick or treats.  Attend Marty’s Monster disco on the 28th October and experience mysterious surprises around Monster Manor.

There will be some Harry Potter themed fun at Exeter Cathedral with Harry Potter crafts to make on 24th October.  Gather some friends and have a game of Quidditch!  Or join a night time tour of the Cathedral with spooky stories...don’t forget to bring a torch!

Ride the ‘Beer Frights Ghost Train’ at Pecorama and receive a spooky treat for all those in Halloween fancy dress. There will be more railway fun at the Devon Railway Centre with their week long Halloween Special.  Explore their pumpkin trail and discover the Halloween treasure!

Take part in the Pumpkin trail at Killerton National Trust this half term and find the spooky pumpkin faces hidden all around the estate.  While over at Canonteign falls there is another Halloween trail promising some fearsomely good fun or head to Becky Falls for some pumpkin carving and spooky craft activities.

Why not visit The Big Sheep and enjoy their ‘Fun by day’ Halloween Festival? This includes a whole cauldron of spooky treats.  Experience the daytime haunted hayride, lakeside train ride, haunted house, witches flying school and see the singing pumpkins. For the bravest, try their Scary by Night Festival with zombie zone and much more monstrous fun!

Head to Bygones for a Halloween hunt and a spooky experience, solve the clues and a treat awaits you.  Join the spooky night walk at Arlington Court, follow the tale, listen for bumps and shrieks in the night and see if you can spot the ghostly visitors. There will be Halloween evenings for mini horrors over at Babbacombe Model Village, when the village takes on a spooky twist.

Pennywell Farm has a week of Jollyween activities, turning October's darkest day into light-hearted fun.  There you can experience a full programme of pumpkin fun and hilarious activities to enjoy.  Paw Patrol will be making his first appearance at Pennywell on 27th October to delight his fans. If you’re a fan of the Clangers, then head to the Milky Way Adventure Park on Sunday 23rd October and see Small Clanger who will be making special appearances throughout the day.

Star Wars is coming to World of Country Life for a half term that’s out of this world! As well as lots of ghostly goings on throughout the week. And there will be lots more going on for your little monsters over at Miniature Pony Centre with a hair-raising week of Halloween treats and surprises.

Visit Crealy, if you dare…. and step inside their NEW Creaky Hotel! Walk through the rooms of this interactive spooky hotel where you will be guaranteed some spooktacular surprises. And each child visiting the park will receive a free pumpkin, picked fresh from Crealy's fields.

Climb aboard the South Devon Railway for their half term family fun week and enjoy a whole host of family activities. Ride the Halloween Express for one night only on 29th October, leaving bloodcurdling Buckfastleigh at 6.30pm, arriving at terrifying Totnes where there will be trick or treat games, ghost stores and gruesome grub on offer.

Ride the Halloween ‘Tram of Terror’ at Seaton Tramway and you will receive a 'baddie bag' (not a 'goodie bag') and enjoy revolting refreshments at the Tramstop café! Go underground at Kents Cavern, take part in the underground pumpkin hunt and if get it right, then you will receive a prize.

There will be a week-long creepy holiday hunt at the Donkey Sanctuary with lots of pumpkin carving and ghoulishly spooky face painting. A thrilling half term awaits at Powderham Castle, enjoy their ‘Snakes and Lanterns’ week, you can even get a close encounter with a Dartmoor reptile!

There will be an adult only horror film ‘movies by moonlight’ open air cinema screening – at Wildwood Escot; bringing warm clothing and a camping chair is advised.
