World of Country Life - Peking to Paris the Race is On!

Nigel Lee owner of World of Country Life in Exmouth and his friend Richard Turner from St David’s Veterinary Service introduced the public to their 1938 Ford 62 which they had spent a whole year rebuilding and adapting to take part the longest endurance car rally in the world – the Peking to Paris Rally – all to raise money for the locally based FORCE cancer charity.

The event started on 12th June from Peking (now called Beijing) and is now at day 18 – halfway through – and having so far conquered 6893 kilometres through China, Mongolia and into Russia, the intrepid Devon duo are currently 1st in their class and 4th overall in their “vintageant” (pre-1941) category!

Endurance rally is a very apt name for the event – the guys are encountering all sorts of weird and wonderful experiences from the dust and grit in the Mongolian dessert to getting pulled over by the Russian police – for a photo!
So far, thanks to very generous donations, they’ve raised over £8,000 for FORCE cancer charity and are well on their way to their £10,000 target. To follow their progress and donate to FORCE, search on Facebook for “Peking to Paris – Nigel & Richard” or visit their website at pekingparis2016.org
