Another NEW Member for the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions

The Devon Association of Tourist Attractions (DATA) is pleased to announce that the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) has joined the Association and has become one of Devon’s Top Attractions. This is the second top Exeter located visitor attraction this year to apply and be successful in obtaining membership. Earlier this year Exeter Cathedral also joined the Association.

Simon Fishwick, Chairman for DATA, said “We are extremely pleased to have the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery become a member of the Association.  We welcome adding another leading Devon visitor attraction to our portfolio of top quality attractions and we very much look forward to working with them.”

In order to qualify as a member, RAMM had to go through an extremely tough inspection process and pass the Association’s strict quality criteria.  These inspections ensure that visitors experience quality in terms of venue, facilities, content, service and value for money.  Members of the Association are regularly inspected to make sure these standards are maintained and improved.  The aim of the not-for-profit tourist organisation is for members to work together to maintain and raise the standard of Devon visitor attractions and have a united voice within the industry.  The Association continues to promote Devon to both UK and overseas visitors at major travel trade exhibitions and their ‘Complete Guide to Devon’ brochure sees 1.2million distributed each year.

Cllr Rosie Denham, Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture, said: “RAMM is an award-winning museum and Exeter’s most visited attraction. It is therefore fitting that it should join the best of Devon’s attractions in this initiative.

“Devon is a well-known and well-respected destination nationally and Exeter is a great city to visit, whether for shopping, food or culture. Having two of the city’s most iconic attractions on this scheme, will raise the city’s profile in the county allowing us to share the city we all love with visitors from near and far.”

RAMM is Exeter’s museum, located in the heart of the city just a two-minute walk from the High Street. An award-winning and truly modern museum of nature, history, world cultures and art which has an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events throughout the year, a wonderful café and great visitor facilities. Fantastic for all ages, with hands-on experiences and free admission.

Members are reporting that they have had a good start to the season with some attractions enjoying record numbers for both the Easter and May Day Bank holidays. As most of Devon’s Top Attractions are all-weather destinations it doesn’t seem to be an issue if the sun doesn’t make an appearance! There’s lots of ‘busy-ness’ going on in preparation for a whole host of special events and activities taking place over the May/June Half Term break.
