Devon Tourism: Aquarium Hoping to Hook New Visitors. 18 April Date for Group Buyer Roadshow in Plymouth

The very best of Devon and the West Country will be on view for the UK tourism industry during a unique travel trade event now being planned.

The Devon Group Travel Buyer Roadshow will take place at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth on Monday 18th April 2016 from 11.00 until 14.30.

Arranged by Hampshire-based group travel specialists Steve Reed Tourism Ltd in conjunction with Devon attractions and hotels, the one day event will provide a showcase for the region to increase its appeal to coach parties and group organisers.

Visit Devon are also supporting the event.

Devon businesses will be able to meet and do business face to face with coach and tour operators and high quality group travel organisers – each with a view to generating lots of new visitors.   The event will also be a platform for Plymouth tourism attractions and hotels to showcase the diverse range of activities on offer for groups

Jo Butler of the Eden Hotel Collection which operates the popular luxury getaway Bovey Castle Hotel located in Dartmoor, has been one of the driving forces behind this new initiative:

‘It’s great to have this opportunity for Devon tourism businesses to be able to demonstrate how ideal they are for group visits, and we think this is also a major coup for Plymouth - Britain’s Ocean City -  and the superb National Marine  Aquarium to host the Group Travel Buyer Roadshow,’ says Jo.

Buyers from all over the country will be on the lookout for new touring ideas and the Roadshow aims to provide just that.

And the choice of the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth as the venue for this prestigious and business-generating event is sure to act as a spur to those tour planners considering bringing new groups to the West Country.

Josh McCarty is the Head of Marketing for the National Marine Aquarium:

‘Our attraction is at the heart of the Devon tourism industry and helps provide a focal point for visits to the region – and group travel is one of our key markets. The tour buyers will love what they experience here and our job on the 18th April will be to convince them to bring lots of their customers back to our area,’ says Josh.
