‘Ben’ joins the Peco fleet of locomotives

Pecorama was delighted to welcome BBC News Correspondent and railway enthusiast Ben Ando recently, to perform the naming ceremony for their unique new locomotive.

Powered by a mini motor car 998 cc petrol engine incorporating an automatic transmission, Ben becomes the 10th loco to join the Peco fleet.

‘’ Our new loco puts the ‘eco’ into Pecorama! It runs on liquid petroleum gas and a bi-product of petrol distillation and gives off only a fraction of the harmful emissions of conventional diesel and petrol engines’ said Chief Mechanical Engineer of the Beer Heights Light Railway John Macdougall.

‘Ben’s naming ceremony was the highlight of a successful week- long series of events, to celebrate the railways Ruby Anniversary.  This special occasion is further commemorated by the publishing of ‘A Pecorama Guide To The First 40 Years Of The Beer Heights Light Railway’ Available for £3.75 from Pecorama or online via www.pecopublications.co.uk
