Whatever the Weather, Devon’s Top Attractions have it Covered!

The Bank Holiday weekend is nearly upon us and although the weather forecast looks to be a mix of sunshine and showers, Devon’s Top Attractions have it all covered. Most of the top 40 attractions are all-weather attractions and have lots to do undercover and out of the weather. So there is nothing to stop you from enjoying the non-stop family fun they have on offer. Families just need to get to the attractions for the Bank Holiday fun to begin.

Simon Fishwick, Chairman of the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions, said “Devon’s Top Attractions have plenty of Bank Holiday events planned and we are confident nothing will stop our visitors from enjoying themselves.  We are certain that everyone will be fully occupied and entertained, regardless of what the weather is doing.”

There is still a chance to take your child to see Peppa Pig before the summer is out.  She will be appearing at the Big Sheep on Sunday 30th August and Monday 31st August. Why not enjoy a Treasure Hunt at the Miniature Pony Centre on Saturday 29th August and see how many chocolate coins you can find.  Experience a medieval time warp and step back to the Middle Ages at Buckland Abbey on Saturday 29th to Monday 31st August. Join the Ranger adventures at Knightshayes on Saturday 29th August and help them bash some brambles and make some crafts.  You could also ‘Go Ape’ this weekend and have a hair-raising tree top adventure out at Haldon Forest.

Bird watchers can experience a moving ‘Bird Hide on Wheels’ with Seaton Tramway on Saturday 29th August with live commentary from bird expert Ian Waite. Also on Saturday 29th August the naturalist and TV presenter Nick Baker will be going wild at Pennywell, with talks, pond dipping demonstrations and selfie opportunities!

Why not enjoy some open-air cinema for the first time at Powderham castle. Enjoy ‘Dirty Dancing’  ‘Top Gun’ or Mamma Mia’. Bring a picnic, dress up and sing along to your favourite songs with all your friends from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August.

For all those Real Ale lovers there’s a treat in store at the South Devon Railway who will be hosting their 21st annual ‘Rails and Ales’ Gala weekend Friday 28th-31st August. Popular with both railway and Real Ale enthusiasts, the four day event promises to be packed full of enjoyment for all.

These are just a small selection of what’s on offer this coming Bank Holiday at Devon’s Top Attractions, take a look at our website to see what else is going on.  There’s sure to be a day out suited to everyone’s taste
