Super Size vs. Super Mini’ The National Marine Aquarium gears up for a summer of fun

With the summer holidays on the horizon, parents will soon be looking for ways to keep the little ones entertained for the school break. The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth has the ideal solution for a fun day out for all the family, with daily ‘Super Size vs Super Mini’ themed shows and science and craft activities.

Taking place from 25th July – 31st August, visitors can look forward to a jam-packed line-up of interactive shows, talks and hands-on fun, looking at some of the ‘super size’ and ‘super mini’ inhabitants of our seas.

From the iconic huge blue whale, the mysterious and stealthy colossal squid to strange and tiny but very important creatures that make up plankton, visitors will discover how important these microscopic creatures are and how they take part in the biggest daily migration on Earth.

There will be even more summer time fun to be had in the ‘Super Size vs. Super Mini’ themed Creative Centre where children and their families can make their own funny plankton or happy whale. For visitors wanting to get up-close, there will be microscopes where they can view real live plankton, with the chance to discover what creature the plankton will grow up to be.

Visitors will also get the opportunity to explore the Aquarium’s very own laboratory, when the doors to the Just Add H2O Headquarters open for a special daily live show. Spectators can expect lots of experiments, and audience participation!

Josh McCarty, Head of Marketing at the National Marine Aquarium, commented: “The summer holidays are going to be weeks of fun and discovery at the National Marine Aquarium.  Our ‘Super Size vs. Super Mini’ theme will include a bumper line-up of live shows and talks with our Hosts, which will also be very interactive so visitors can fully immerse themselves into the marine experience. Our Creative Centre will also be a great place for children and adults alike to unleash their creative sides.

“All year round we offer a fantastic value for money option for families looking for something to occupy and captivate children, as well as provide a great day out for people of all ages.  We look forward to welcoming visitors from the South West and beyond throughout the summer.”

‘Super Size vs. Super Mini’ interactive shows will run daily from 25th July – 31st August. See their website for a full schedule of activities.
