Exciting Events Programme Announced at Pecorama

There’s a big buzz at Pecorama as preparations are underway for the exciting special events programme taking place over the course of the season. As 2015 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Beer Heights Light Railway, there will be a vintage and steam focus at the weekend Festival in June and during Gala Week in August (24-31), Pecorama will welcome well known BBC News Correspondent Ben Ando who will name the new commemorative steam locomotive on the Beer Heights Light Railway.

The first major event takes place in May, with the Vintage and Classic Car Rally on Sunday the 24th and Registration Forms have continued to flood in promising yet another impressive display of classic vehicles from across the West Country and beyond.

Now in its fourteenth year, the event welcomes numerous stalwarts, some who have attended without fail since its inception. The event takes place in the Pecorama car parks and with the growing number of new comers there’s always something new and attention-grabbing to see.

The Peco Steam and Vintage Festival on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June promises to be a blast from the past and reminiscent of the popular steam events of years gone by. Guest exhibits will include full, half, one third and one quarter size traction engines, vintage tractors and vehicles.  Honiton Brass Band will complement the atmosphere on Saturday, with Sidmouth Steppers ‘stepping out’ on Sunday.

On Saturday evening 12th June, there will be a unique opportunity to ride the Beer Heights Light Railway and see Pecorama’s beautiful gardens illuminated at the ‘Midsummer Night’s Steam’ event.

Music at the Top Spot stage will be provided by local artists Alan West, Steve Black and Adam Sweet and a delicious spit roast BBQ and ride on the railway will be included in the ticket price of just £12.50 in advance or £15 on the gate. Branscombe Brewery will run a licensed Bar and the event will be in support of Hospiscare Devon.

Don’t miss out, contact us on 01297 21542 to book.

A very different type of event will take place in the grounds on the evening of Saturday the 27th of June, when the Inn Theatre Company will perform Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. The 30 strong company will perform the popular family play at the Top Spot stage and ticket holders will be encouraged to bring along their own picnics and soak up the atmosphere in what we hope will be the first of many such events.

Tickets are limited so advance booking is advisable. Adults £10 Children £8, with tickets on the gate being Adults £12 and children £10.

Other news;

Striving to be innovative, Pecorama has invested in new and exciting new technology in the form of 3 large screens, one situated in the front of the Model Shop window and two in the Play Station.  The screens will display information to keep visitors informed of what’s happening and when on the site and give details of future events not to be missed.

This new technology has been extended to the 60 seat Station Gallery Conference Room where a new projector and large screen has been installed; thereby further improving the facilities available to hire on site.
