7 reasons why we'll be going back to Crealy

Believe it or not, this summer saw my first ever visit to Crealy Great Adventure Park.

I know that sounds impossible. But despite the facts that 1) Crealy is one of Devon’s biggest and best-loved family attractions, and 2) We have two small children aged 2 & 5 who take a LOT of entertaining - we’d not quite made it.

And now I’m very glad we did. Not only did we have a fantastic day out, and two tired, happy and funned-out kids by the end of it. We’ve now got somewhere to head for on future days out – and quite possibly a holiday destination for next year, in the form of Crealy Resort’s on-site family accommodation.

So in case you’re still one of those people who’ve not been to Crealy before, here are 7 reasons why you should switch camps – and 7 reasons why we’ll be going back!

The kids literally didn’t know where to start. From the moment we walked into the park there was a constant choice of things to do. Apparently there are over 60 rides and attractions (not that we were counting!), and with not too far to walk between each, it was easy to find all we wanted to go on.

The queues weren’t too long. Which surprised me, seeing as though we were there on a rare dry day in the second week of the school summer holidays. The longest we had to wait was 10-15 minutes, and for many rides we got off, then were able to get straight back on again (I think we had 5 or 6 goes on the gorgeous Victorian carousel!).

The Junior Driving School. This was worth the entrance fee alone – and totally hilarious! The sight of our rather careful 5 year old conscientiously stopping at each junction (kids get to drive great mini cars on roads and roundabouts), indicating, and then driving on, had the whole queue in stiches.

The big-kid rides. There’s more to aim for – our two were more than entertained by the smaller rides and amusements, to the extent that we didn’t even get to some of the bigger rides (and they were a little too small/timid this year).

The food. There’s a brilliant choice of places to eat at Crealy – a Sub-shop, American-style diner, all-you-can-eat buffet, café … and lots more, plus ice-creams and doughnuts of course. We need to go back just to try them all!

The animals. When you need a break from all the rushing, climbing, spinning, whirling, swinging, shooting, riding, screaming and laughing … you can chill out for a bit whilst you visit the meerkats, goats, tortoises, bugs – and crocodiles!

The glamping. Oh yes. Not only can you stay at Crealy (and enjoy unlimited access to the adventure park whilst you’re there) – you could stay in a medieval pavilion, a safari cabin, a lodge with hot tub, or even just your own trusty old tent or campervan. We’ll definitely be going back for that!
