Ancient Houses in Exeter

Tuesday 13th February 2018

Tue 13 Feb, 6.30 to 8pm, £9

Gallery 20

Exeter people often talk of the sad losses of ancient buildings in the city; in fact, far more is left than is apparent upon casual inspection. This lecture by John Allan will give an account of the architectural history of housing in the city, from the late Norman period up to the reign of Queen Anne, emphasising new discoveries and pointing out features to look for when examining townhouses.

John is an eminent medieval archaeologist. For many years he was Curator of Antiquities at RAMM and then worked for Exeter Archaeology. He is now an independent consultant archaeologist.
