If you’re looking for a great day out for all the family a visit to The BIG Sheep is a must! The famous attraction is now firmly established as one of the UK’s most innovative & exciting family attractions providing wacky and unique entertainment for all the family. Our madcap show team will entertain you with hilarious and entertaining shows which include a hysterical introduction to various breeds of sheep from around the world, the world famous sheep racing, horse whispering, sheep shearing, dog and participating duck trials. New for 2012 ‘The Udder Business’ is a comical show that discovers where milk comes from and how it is turned in to delicious Devon clotted cream.

The BIG Sheep has something to entertain any age group and children and adults can burn off excess energy and play safely on a great selection of slides and imaginative soft play climbing areas, tumble towers, mazes & obstacles in our MASSIVE indoor playarea.

There are loads of fun packed outdoor activities too. For the adrenaline thrill seekers there are bookable sessions at the Adventure Centre adjacent to the park for climbing, low ropes, mountain boarding and competitive families can battle it out using state of the art eye-safe laser guns as they navigate their way through tanks, helicopters and hide outs at Battlefield Live Outdoor Combat Zone.

You can also enjoy taking a ride on our farm safari rides, hop on the magical lakeside train ride or sail around the lake in our giant swan peddle boats. Children love our pony school and are full of pride when they pick up a rosette after taking a ride on one of the BIG Sheep’s resident ponies. Our twister chair-o-planes ride can be adapted to go slower for younger children and will speed up for the more adventurous so they can feel the thrill of flying through the air. A 10 minute work out on our giant jumping pillows will leave you feeling energised and ready for a go on our fun and interactive water game, splash zone (don’t forget to you bring a towel because you are sure to get wet. To quench your thirst adults can enjoy sampling our finest real ale after they watch the beer show.

Cameras are a definite must when you visit the BIG Sheep to capture the look of sheer joy on children’s faces as they bottle feed our baby lambs and take a ride in piggy-pull-a-long shouting ‘oink, oink’ to all the sheep they see!
If you want to dine ‘Al Fresco’ you can relax and enjoy your picnic in a glorious setting and enjoy the sun or avoid the rays in our sheltered areas. Delicious homemade food, from locally sourced produce is served up in our Shepherd’s Restaurant. Bo Peep’s Café caters for those who enjoy fantastic fast food.

Visitors flock from all over the world to catch sight of our world famous sheep race which is more thrilling than a day at Ascot. This hysterical sporting event complete with sheep and jockeys will have your shouting out loud for the sheep you have placed a bet on.

After an exhilarating day out you can browse in our Sheepy Shop or simply relax with a delicious homemade scones and a great big dollop of Devonshire clotted cream.
Our visitors love The BIG Sheep and ‘Awesome’ – ‘Cool’ – ‘Brilliant’ are just some of the words the kids use to describe their BIG Sheep experience.

Winter Weekends & Winter School Holidays

During the winter The BIG Sheep is open at weekends & school holidays from 10am until 5pm.
The first weekend of the winter season is 5th and 6th November 2011.
The last weekend of the winter season is 24th and 25th March 2012.

During the winter months the attractions open are: Ewetopia indoor playground and cafe, Train Ride, Jumping Pillows, Battlefield Live, Ice Skating and Toboggan Slope.
During January there are no animals onsite. Lambing will start in February.
(some attractions are weather dependable and this can affect their opening hours.)

Winter Weekend Prices: (non school holidays)
£6 each for adults and children over 3ft tall.
£2.50 each for children under 3ft tall.

Directions

Travelling by road: (from the North via M5)

Leave the M5 at Junction 27. Follow the A361 signposted Barnstaple. Take the A39 signposted Bideford. Look out for the BIG Sheep flag on the A39 just outside Bideford.
 

Travelling by road: (from Cornwall)

Take the A39 past Bude signposted to Bideford. You will drive past Hartland and Clovelly. Look out for the BIG Sheep flag on the A39 just outside Bideford.

Travelling by Train:

The nearest train station is in Barnstaple Town Centre.

Travelling by Bus:

There is one bus which drives past the BIG Sheep which is the 319 stagecoach bus from Barnstaple town centre to Hartland and vice versa. The nearest bus stop is outside the church in Abbotsham, the small village where we are based. From the bus stop the BIG Sheep is a 2-3 minute walk away. However, ask the driver nicely and they will usually stop outside the BIG Sheep car park and drop you off. This isn't a bus stop, but the drivers are usually very good if you ask nicely.
