Morwellham Quay

Morwellham Quay quality assured

Enjoy a fun-filled historical day out for the whole family at Morwellham Quay.

Once the greatest copper port in Queen Victoria's Empire, after the mines and port closed the village 'fell asleep' for over half a century, until it was re-discovered.

Step back in time to 1865 to explore and discover this fascinating village, where costumed guides introduce you to child labour, you can take part in a Victorian school lesson and even dress in Victorian costumes.

A unique journey underground in the mine train takes you through the copper mine and back along the banks of the River Tamar, giving a fascinating insight into the life and work of the 19th century miners.

There is a restaurant and tea room on site whch is open throughout the day, serving drinks, snacks and  sandwiches. Hot meals are available between 12 and 3.30.

Dog Friendly Yes, dog friendly. Dogs are welcome as long as on a short lead. Dogs allowed in all buildings and even the Ship Inn. The only exception is the chocolate experience. Dogs can even go on the train through the copper mine. Dog owners offered poo bags too.

We are open from 10am throughout the year, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Closing times vary from 4pm in the winter to 5.30pm in the summer.
